-
A tree support system is a supplemental system used to help support specific parts of a tree. This may include cabling, bracing, or other hardware designed to reduce movement, support weak unions, or help manage structural concerns. It should always be recommended and installed based on the tree’s structure and condition.
-
Cabling can help reduce the likelihood of certain types of failure, but it does not eliminate all risk. Trees are living structures, and support systems require proper installation, inspection, and ongoing monitoring. Samsara Tree Care helps clients understand what a support system can and cannot do.
-
Cabling or bracing may be recommended for trees with co-dominant stems, weak unions, included bark, overextended limbs, storm-related structural concerns, or valuable mature canopies where preservation is appropriate. An arborist evaluation is needed to determine whether support is the right option.
-
Yes. Support systems are not appropriate for every tree. If a tree has advanced decay, severe structural instability, major root issues, or unacceptable risk for the site, removal may be the more responsible recommendation. Samsara Tree Care evaluates preservation options first when appropriate, but we will not recommend support when removal or another approach is safer.
